The North Campus Culinary & Cosmetology building is a 2-story facility with separate dedicated wings for Culinary and Cosmetology instruction. The project Test & Balance scope included (4) air handling units, (74) terminal units, (17) kitchen exhaust and makeup air systems, (4) circulating pumps fed by the campus central plant and (13) supply/exhaust fans. During construction, DAC identified deficient performance of the building chilled water and hot water pumps. Additionally, we identified sizing discrepancies in the hot water coils for the kitchen makeup air units which were not submitted in accordance with the design requirements but had been approved by the project team. DAC provided investigative services as part of our base contract to identify the source of the chilled water pressure losses and worked directly with the kitchen equipment manufacturer to provide revised performance submittals. This review reduced the heating hot water demand by 613 gallons per minute. Additionally, building chilled water demand was reduced by 55 gallons per minute.
