The West Houston Institute combines experimental classrooms and labs, a fully outfitted MakerSpace, a facilitated collaboration space, conference rooms and a connected learning common area. The MakerSpace is a facility that is intended to provide short courses, credit courses, leisure learning, certifications and K-12 programs in order to introduce K-12 students to STEAM. The West Houston Institute is part of projects executed under a 3-year renewable IDIQ contract between DAC and HCC. Building systems TAB included 10 variable volume air handling units, 5 dedicated outside air handling units, a laboratory exhaust system, chilled and heating hot water systems, an energy recovery loop and laboratory control system.
