TAB Technician/Professional

Houston, TX

Requirements for the Technician levels I, II, and III include the ability to perform on a Test & Balance crew completing work duties to project specifications and manager requests. This position may be verifying new installations or handling field service calls, reviewing HVAC system installations and provide troubleshooting to verify that the HVAC Systems are operational to the design specifications. Prior experience in HVAC Test & Balance is a must. Employees in this position will be part of a multi-year training curriculum to achieve NEBB Technician or Professional certification.

Principal Duties

  • Operate test and balance equipment
  • Proactively communicates progress, issues and status to dispatcher and management as required
  • Adjust fan speeds, balancing dampers, fan rotation, heating and cooling modes, thermostat operation, damper controls fan controls and so on
  • Complete paperwork legibly and concise
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications
  • Initial site inspection, review mechanical plans and specifications
  • Adjust balancing dampers, measure final HVAC operating conditions, and ensure correct building and space pressure
  • Adjust individual balancing dampers for supply, return, make up and exhaust as needed to achieve design airflow from each diffuser grill and register

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma, Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning is preferred.
  • 1-15 years’ experience in commercial HVAC, Mechanical services and/or Test & Balance
  • Excellent organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
  • This position requires working in diverse project types including industrial environments
  • Thorough background and drug screening will be required for each applicant
  • NEBB Certification is preferred
