BAS System Specialist

Houston, TX

Seeking a Building Automation Specialist (BAS) to perform building automation system (BAS) analysis at client sites and via remote terminals. The specialist will identify and implement BAS energy and performance improvements through industry proven sequence of operation changes with little or no oversight. Perform calibration testing, calibration and repairs on conventional and complex, state of the art electronic, electrical and pneumatic control systems, instruments, meters and recorders. This position requires a flexible work schedule and travel.

Principal Duties

  • Works on building automation controls and instrumentation related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.  Requires programming and integration expertise.
  • Performs building automation system commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices and completes commissioning documentation.
  • Obtains building automation system trend data to identify system improvements.
  • Identifies and develops energy efficiency improvements for facility mechanical systems to include, chiller plants, boiler plants, air handling units, variable air volume boxes, and other building mechanical systems.
  • Works on electronic, electrical and pneumatic instruments and controls such as pneumatic to electronic transducers, valves and valve positions, meters, differential pressure transmitters, pneumatic feedback controllers, electronic and pneumatic temperature, pressure and flow measuring and transmitting devices, microcomputers, watt load chillers, and electronic/ pneumatic graph recorders.
  • Not only repairs/calibrates individual instruments and controls on a system but must also be able to troubleshoot/fine tune the control system as a whole. These control systems must be adjusted and optimized so as to result in the most efficient/economical operation of the HVAC and Central Refrigeration Systems. Utilizes numerous types of pneumatic/electronic test instruments and optimizes controls for chillers and other HVAC equipment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a facility requiring similar Operations and Maintenance services in both magnitude and complexity, and a minimum of seven (7) years' experience programming Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Siemens programming certification or other automation vendor professional certification (advanced programming certification preferred with Siemens).
  • Niagara AX certification preferred.
  • Johnson Controls Inc. programming certification a plus.
  • Familiarity with Python programming language a plus.
  • Certified Energy Management certificate preferred.
